Have you checked out squidoo.com yet? I've been cruising around trying to find sites like AC and due to your recommendation I'll check it out. I also read about Hub Pages tonight which sounds decent, but Squidoo has by far been the most tempting as you can do things like refer people to cafepress, ebay, and other online stores and if they buy something due to your referral then you gain a commission. Which can gain you a lot of coin if your writing is compelling enough to convince someone to buy something, I'd wager.

Would you mind sharing how much you've received in payments? I joined AC once I read your blog post but have this niggling concern that I'll spend too much time on it. Maybe I'd be better off going out and dumpster diving (the post that help me find your blog initially, by the way).

Another quick question I had was whether you have to have a premium paypal account or can still receive the payments with just a freebie-level account.

Hi Nine Circles,
I have found that the key to making money on AC is to write bite-sized articles that can be completed in 15 minutes or less. As you write more articles, the residual payments from the page views will increase at the same rate. It will probably never pay your rent for you, but if you write quickly and with quality then the small payment amounts are worthwhile for a supplement. I actually don't do a lot of promotion, other than to have the AC RSS feed posted on my various blogs and Myspace & Facebook pages.

Congrats on becoming an AC top 1000 guy, and thanks for this post. I've posted just a few articles on AC and I've been frustrated at how little it earns. But I may not be doing enough to promote the articles. I'd be interested in hearing how you promote your pieces.
